Our passion for wild-caught Atlantic Canadian lobster goes back four generations.
Tangier Lobster Co. is a leading Canadian exporter of live lobster to the international marketplace.
Located on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, we have deep roots that go back four family generations.
If you ask about us, we are confident you will hear good reviews.
As one of the founding members of the Lobster Council of Canada, Tangier Lobster Company combines expertise and experience. We know the lobster sector from top to bottom and we put our background to work every day for clients within Canada and in 14 countries around the world.
We often claim we are in the ‘relationships business’ (we just sell lobster on the side). It is our relationships with suppliers, clients and service providers that drive our business. If we do the right thing by those key relationships, everything else falls nicely into place.
Meet the Team
-
Stewart Lamont
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Stewart claims to be the “most passionate spokesperson anywhere for Canadian live lobster”.
It might be true.
He has exported lobster for over 4 decades to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in addition to supplying key clients right here in Canada. He still wakes up at 4 am every day anxious to see what orders and inquiries have come in overnight.
Stewart’s focus always remains the same: premium quality, fully-meated lobster and the best possible dining experience.
He’s happy to talk lobster with anyone at any time.

Penny Sharpe
SALES DIRECTOR
We like to say in the office that Penny has ‘seafood in her blood’.
As the granddaughter of J Willy Krauch, the renowned smoked salmon family in our village, she learned the fundamentals of seafood at a very young age.
Time flies – Penny has been our highly capable Sales Director for a decade.
We call ourselves ‘Travel Agents for Lobster’. We invite clients to put Penny to the test. She takes air freight logistics very seriously and she really knows her stuff!

Darrin Hutt
FLOOR SUPERVISOR
Every single lobster which enters our facility on an annual basis, and every single lobster which departs, is the direct responsibility of Floor Supervisor Darrin Hutt. He directs our production team receiving, grading, storing and shipping live lobster often starting at 5am.
Darrin’s greatest strength is that he knows lobster. He looks for size, shell quality, coloration and meat content. He knows what is required in every market around the world. He particularly knows our clients and their expectations, many whom have been sourcing from us for 10 years or longer.
So yes, Darrin knows lobster, and that is a terrific thing, especially for our customers.

Joyce Lambert
ACCOUNTING AND SALES SUPPORT
Joyce is responsible for all of the accounting in Tangier Lobster Company and a significant portion of the sales support. She has the most responsibility in our company in many respects, so fortunately she is the most organized.
Joyce is ideally positioned to maintain strong relationships with our lobster suppliers and service providers while having direct relationships with our customers in Canada and around the world. She pays the bills and collects the invoices — it does not get more important than that.
On top of everything else? Joyce is always upbeat!

Melanie Ashton
SPECIAL PROJECTS AND QUALITY CONTROL
Melanie is the newest member of our Team.
In fact, she is so new to us, that we cannot make fun of her yet.
We can happily report that Melanie was born and raised locally so she has an inherent understanding of the nature and importance of lobster on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. She is a ‘quick study’ and extremely creative, with a background and formal training in graphic arts which has already come in extremely handy.
Melanie will initially focus upon quality control issues, and sales support activity. She will also make her own mark with special projects as they gradually arise in the months to come.
We are pleased and proud to welcome Melanie to our company.
